loyalotter: (oh that's not going to end well!)

8th Gryffindor note [voice] / [action]

It seems as though people come and go a lot here. I noticed it a while back, but you don't think the people doing the going will be those you're close to or know well until... they disappear, too. It's too much to hope that things will remain relatively constant, isn't it?

Ron's gone... isn't he?

[Hermione's going to be sitting out in the middle of the ground with a bunch of mats and blankets. She's got a small fire going on a pile of rocks in front of her. It looks like it shouldn't be possible, but there's definitely a fire there. And it makes the air around it warm. So she's pretty toasty now. If you want to say hello, you can be toasty warm, too, as long as you sit down.]

[Really, he's looking quite pleased with himself as he walks closer to her, the Patronus still sniffing at everything]

Well...["Thanks."] Remember how I said I had a proposition for Potter in exchange for my help? This was part of that.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[She thinks it's cute and offers it a smile.]

Oh... That's probably a wise decision. Patronuses are very useful. [She kind of wants to try hers, but she's not sure she wants to risk it not working, especially considering how she's been feeling lately.]
hisdarkmark: (I'm officially screwed)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's got his eyes trained on the Patronus, a slightly fond smile on his face.]

I don't know about Padfoot being useful, all he seems to do is run off and play. But...it might help later.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
They're nice to have around in case you get bored or need a little something to smile at. [Or need a message to be sent, and she's debating telling him about that. It's a mark of their pseudo-friendship that she's even considering it.]

Have you been ta- [And then she registers the name.] Who named him? [She does scoot over a little in case he wants to sit down with a blanket. The fire's warm at least.]
Edited 2009-12-03 17:22 (UTC)
hisdarkmark: (I guess this isn't so bad)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
He's actually quite amusing when he wants to be. Kind of funny, this one. [Watching Padfoot circle around the fire then, and he himself settles down next to Hermione instead.] He seems to enjoy the snow.

Potter suggested it, and that's what he responded to. Don't ask me why, kind of strange if you ask me. [Don't mind him, busy trying to warm his hands.] Anyway, have I been what?

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[She watches interestedly and it's very lucky she can hold in that laughter. Oh Draco, if only you knew. But she's not going to enlighten you. That'd go over reaaaalllly well. Not.]

He's very cute. [She's a bit surprised you'll settle down so close but hey, she's not going to complain. Instead, she pulls out her wand and adds her otter to the mix.] Oh... have you taken him out all day, then?
hisdarkmark: (I'm pretty sure this is a felix effect)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
That's something I never thought I'd hear coming from you. [He's got a lot on his mind lately, and he likes her well enough that he won't think twice about settling next to her.] Not all day, he's been out a few different times though. [And suddenly, there's an otter.] ...so yours really is an otter.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
What, that something of yours is cute? [She glances over at him, smiling a little.] Yes, mine's an otter. Did someone tell you differently? [And who told him?] Did Harry talk to you about it?
hisdarkmark: (I can kinda smile)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, basically. [A shrug and a light smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes.] No, Potter said yours was an otter, Loony's was a hare, Weasley's is a terrier, and the Weaselette has a horse. He mentioned he taught you lot during your DA thing.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[She doesn't even bother correcting the names as she knows he'll just ignore her.] He's right. He did teach us a lot. But he didn't teach me this. [And she's going to let her otter disappear 'cause another one's going to appear by her side, the one not occupied by one Malfoy. The new otter trots around the small pile of rocks to Draco's other side, opens its mouth, and speaks in Hermione's voice, though she's not saying anything.]

Lupin taught me this.
hisdarkmark: (I'm realizing this was bad)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[He actually jumps in surprise, staring at the otter and then at Hermione.] They can talk?

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[She smirks and looks quite proud of herself.] If you do it right. It's very difficult, though, but I figured in a place like this it could be very useful to know how to do it. [Likewise, the otter looks very pleased with itself, too.]
hisdarkmark: (I look human when I laugh)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
That's...kind of amazing. [Just staring down at the otter. Heh. You're kind of cute, furry water thing. Likewise, Padfoot suddenly notices there's an otter and has taken to start stalking it.] Is it difficult to learn?

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[She looks proud still.] Thank you. It wasn't my original idea, but it's a good one. I believe Dumbledore came up with it.

[The otter looks happily up at Draco and then notices the little coyote wolf thing and flattens against the ground.]

It is. Very difficult. [She had a hard time, but well... she's not a fan of the Patronus Charm to begin with.] I might be able to teach you, though.
hisdarkmark: (Default)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's an obvious twitch at the mention of Dumbledore.] Ah. That makes sense.

[The coyote continues creeping closer, sniffing at the otter curiously. Hi, you're a lot smaller than Prongs.]

...have you taught the others yet? [He's still having a bit of trouble with the basic charm. This is the first time he's actually been able to let Padfoot out for a few days.]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Still a sore spot. She should have figured as much.]

Not yet, but I'm planning on it soon enough. Obviously, Lupin and Tonks already know, but I'm going to teach the DA, even though our numbers are dwindling. I figured you'd need to know as well just in case you needed to reach us quickly and couldn't take the time to write.

[Oh if only you knew how hard it is for her, too. The otter stares straight at the coyote, facing it now. Who are you and what do you want?]
hisdarkmark: (I call this a puppydog face)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Very much so.]

...I guess that would be beneficial. I have my own ways of getting a hold of Potter, but everyone else might be useful, too.

[It may have to come up. Padfoot approaches the otter and stares before attempting to paw at its head. HI I WANT FRIENDS. Can you see why Draco is confused about his Patronus?]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[She raises an eyebrow at him but thinks she has an idea.] Special papers, right? [And then glances down at her otter, which is sliding out from under the paw going all ">T DUN PAW MY HEAD." And it stares.]

Still, even if you can only get one Patronus messenger at a time, it would still help, especially if you're running or trying to hide from something.
hisdarkmark: (I'm actually minding my own business)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
...well, yeah, those too. [And that's all he says on that matter. Padfoot whines a little and follows after the otter, trying to paw its head again. PLAY WITH ME AND PAY ATTENTION TO ME.]

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Next DA meeting then?

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's only keeping quite because it's Harry and she trusts his wishes. The otter finally paws back, looking a little heckled.]

Probably. I'm hoping to learn how to cast multiples. I'm more than certain it's possible with the right amount of concentration.
hisdarkmark: (I never realized how big the world is)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Ask Potter, if needed. [Padfoot lets out a happy kind of yip before pawing at the otter again, jumping around trying to get it to play.]

Multiples? Has it been done before?

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[She'll glance at you, but not prod at it. The otter looks so so so confused. She paws at Padfoot again, still crouched to the ground.]

I'm not certain. I believe it should be possible with the correct theory and practice. I'm definitely going to find out, though.

[Looking back at the Patronuses.] They seem to be getting along. My otter doesn't have a name. I never really thought about naming it.
hisdarkmark: (I watch my world spin)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-03 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Padfoot just keeps pouncing around and trying to get the otter to play.]

Well, if anyone were to figure it out, it'd probably be you. [No round-about compliment this time, just a flat-out one. What is wrong with you, boy. Also watching the Patronuses]

Padfoot got on very well with Prongs, too. It's kind of odd. Naming it I think makes it more personal, really.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[The otter stares at it like 'wtf you doin?' but then bounces away. This might end up in a game of chase. Good thing they're intangible mist beings.

Hermione blinks at the compliment. Well, that's a first.]
Thank you... I'm certainly going to try.

[And now she's watching, too.] I would imagine. I don't know what to call it, though. [If we're going with the pattern, she'd have to name it Lily or something with a flower name and that's just weird considering Draco's is the one named Padfoot.]
hisdarkmark: (I call this a puppydog face)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2009-12-04 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[jfkldsjlka hay DX Padfoot is going to follow right after the otter. Let the chase begin.]

Sure. I know you are. And you've got help or whatever, so...[He shrugs and just goes back to keeping an eye on Padfoot.]

I'm not sure either. Wonder what it would even respond to.
