It seems as though people come and go a lot here. I noticed it a while back, but you don't think the people doing the going will be those you're close to or know well until... they disappear, too. It's too much to hope that things will remain relatively constant, isn't it?

Ron's gone... isn't he?


[Hermione's going to be sitting out in the middle of the ground with a bunch of mats and blankets. She's got a small fire going on a pile of rocks in front of her. It looks like it shouldn't be possible, but there's definitely a fire there. And it makes the air around it warm. So she's pretty toasty now. If you want to say hello, you can be toasty warm, too, as long as you sit down.]

I don't think so as two of the people I'm referring to were friends I had from home. Regardless of whether or not you befriend them here, it's still going to hurt to see them leave.

I suppose it's better than being alone, though.

I can't imagine being alone or wanting to, whether or not it hurts to lose someone.

[After listening to the entry, Cho makes her way outside to Hermione. She sits down next to Hermione and pulls her into a hug.]

Maybe, but it might hurt worse to not feel loved and valued in the first place.

Back home, we were fighting a war, where we didn't know who was going to die next, who would be killed. Yet we still made friends and still kept close to each other because our friends were all we had. I wouldn't trade that for anything and feeling pain when you lose someone... that means you're human, you've got enough emotion to care for people...

[Hermione doesn't look up until she feels herself being hugged. Turning, she returns the embrace.]

[And because I have yet to actually icon him, there's going to be slow movements but soon a silvery-mist-like creature reveals itself. It doesn't look too harmful, of course, considering it's small and, well, a coyote pup. It sits on its haunches a few feet from Hermione, looking back and forth between her and the flame]

[This is all hitting very close to home for Emil and it's making him a bit uncomfortable. For one thing, he knows all about what it feels like to not be loved and valued.]

So... being able to care about people, is that what makes someone human?

But people who aren't human can care about others too. Ric-- someone I know is a half-elf, but he can get angry and sad and happy just like I can. And... he cared about someone.
