8th Gryffindor note [voice] / [action]

It seems as though people come and go a lot here. I noticed it a while back, but you don't think the people doing the going will be those you're close to or know well until... they disappear, too. It's too much to hope that things will remain relatively constant, isn't it?

Ron's gone... isn't he?

[Hermione's going to be sitting out in the middle of the ground with a bunch of mats and blankets. She's got a small fire going on a pile of rocks in front of her. It looks like it shouldn't be possible, but there's definitely a fire there. And it makes the air around it warm. So she's pretty toasty now. If you want to say hello, you can be toasty warm, too, as long as you sit down.]

((OOC: replies will likely be slow still, but I'm definitely more here than I have been |D;))

[She looks shocked that he's taken her words that way.]

No! I'm- it's... [Breathe.] I agree completely with that. It's... Riddle, Voldemort... the War. I just wish it weren't necessary at all.

...oh. [Oh. Right. Not everybody's out to get you, Draco, calm down.] I can't think of many people who actually enjoy that part.

Me, either. It's nicer that way.

[And topic change... this is getting uncomfortable.]...Where did the Patronuses go?

[He suddenly looks up and actually registers the loss of their Patronuses] ...no idea. Should we go find them?

I wonder if they'd reappear if we tried to re-conjure them. [But she's not really feeling like she wants to try. That whole 'it's not working perfectly thing' again.]

They'll come back...we probably just scared them off. [There's a half-smile, but he doesn't exactly believe that.] They're tricky sort of things.

They are. Or maybe they're trying to tell us to get inside and get warm. [She offers one in return.]

Are you proposing that they may actually be smarter than us? [That smile's growing a little, gdi Hermione you should not be making us feel comfortable around you.]

Of course not. [She's starting to smile a little bit more, too.] Maybe just that they know us well enough to know how to get us to do things.

Well, if they're supposed to be a part of us, maybe they're that small part that still has common sense. Who knows with them.

[Have a laugh.] Better than the part that just runs into things and gets into trouble.

Maybe they're right, though. It's cold out.

Exactly. At least you get it.

Maybe. I've got warming charms though, and I've got things to do. I would suggest you head in though, it might snow again soon.

[She smiles over at him.] Of course.

[And then a pause before she picks up what looks to be a small jar by her feet. Scooping a little bit of the fire into the jar, she offers it to Draco.] I'll go inside in a minute, but this will help keep you warm, too.

See to it, then. [Draco just regards the jar carefully. It's not as though he's never seen something like this before, but. He carefully reaches up and takes the jar with one hand, turning it over as the warmth of the fire touches his hand.] ...thanks, Hermione. ["For everything, really. You didn't have to do that."]

[She's very pleased that he takes it and smiles in reply.] You're welcome, Draco. ["It's what I'm here for. That and to be your walking dictionary."]

[With that, she's going to stand up and magically put out the rest of the fire.]

[He seems to know that. So, he just waves at her slightly and holds onto the jar, whistling a bit for Padfoot as he also stands up. Without another word, he starts heading out, still whistling for Padfoot as he goes and disappears back through the trees.]

[She watches for a short time before moving back towards her house, knowing that Terri's gone for now. But still, she's happy enough that she could conjure another if she really wanted to.]
