Are you any good at checking a person's head? I believe I might have cracked my skull on the way in. [Well it would explain his strange behavior as of late, but he's mostly just busy living in denial.]

[She has to work a little not to laugh, hiding a small smile behind a hand.]

[Sniffs indignantly] Yeah well, this place is still weird. I don't understand it.

Neither do I. [Come on, get to the point, Draco. She's not going to push you as she doesn't really want to risk upsetting him... again, which would make him upset her. Vicious cycle, really.]

Isn't it possible to completely charm a person upon entering here? [His point here is that he's worried he's been hexed because he's acting so different and it's freaking him out, but obviously he won't just flat out say it. Stubborn git.]

I suppose so, depending on who did it and why.

Isn't it obvious? Those Malnosso people have done it just to ruin my life.

Maybe it's just the way things are now. Whatever the reason is, it's nice this way. [She's still picking at the grass blade, not looking at him.]

[She nods, and she's frowning at the grass in a way that's clear she's trying to think about things, toss things through that brilliant mind of hers.] I don't like fighting with people, you know, so it's nice to just be able to talk, no matter who it is.

[Still busy dragging his hand through the water, watching some of the smaller fish swim up and try to nibble on his fingers] You've got loads of people you could be talking to. [Returns his gaze to glance at her] Why'd you choose to come out here? You could have easily just told me to sod off.

[She opens her mouth to give a quick retort before stopping to think about it. That's actually a fair question and deserves a thoughtful answer. When she finally does answer, she sounds genuine.] We've been trying to be civil with each other, haven't we? It sounded as though you wanted to talk to me about something and since you weren't mean about it, it would have been rude of me to tell you to sod off.

[His own pause there, while he just gives her another curious look] ...I would have told me to sod off if I were you.

[Okay, she can't help it this time. She laughs a little bit.] But I didn't want to.

[Again, you're just confusing him. Though he has to admit, she's a bit more tolerable when she's laughing] I don't think I'll understand you no matter what I do.

[She's still smiling, but at least she doesn't look like she's trying not to laugh at him.] I guess it's just a fundamental difference between us.

Amongst other things, I guess. [Ducks his head back down to look at the fish, but he's still grinning slightly despite himself. Damn.] Granted there are far more differences than just that.

Well yes, but we weren't discussing those at the time. [And she's not really sure she wants to go there, so she just keep smiling and messing with the grass.]

[Grabs one of the fish by the tail, holding it back and watching it struggle a bit] Things have changed since we were eleven, haven't they? [Eventually lets the fish go and watches it swim]

[She frowns slightly, more at the treatment of the fish than the question posed.] They have. For better and for worse.

[Well if it makes her feel better, when the fish comes back, he kind of pets it with two of his fingers] ...I don't understand. [And that just reveals everything he's been mixed up on. He doesn't understand why he's here, he doesn't understand his upbringing anymore, he doesn't understand why he's changing, he doesn't understand Hermione, Myuria, Hisoka, or anyone who's been civil and gotten through to him. He just doesn't understand.]

[She just kind of looks at him for a moment, then tucks her knees up and rests her chin on them. That's a hard one to decipher, Draco.] Do you remember what I told yo... about believing there's good in people?
