12th Gryffindor Note (Action first / later written)

((OOC: PLEASE READ. The first action part is for Draco, Raine, and Harry in that order. After she gets home and talks to Harry, housemates are free to reply and then anyone who's heard she's back and wants to come visit her is free to reply. But please wait for those three first. Thanks! Have at now, but keep in mind that she is home so all action posts are at home!))

[It's midday in the woods. Calm, quiet. And then... CRUNCH SPLASH. Guess who just got literally dumped into the lake on this cold winter day? And hard enough to break what little ice is still left. Yep. Hermione's back. And she looks like she's been through hell. Coughing, sputtering. She's going to try to climb up onto the bank, because seriously Malnosso? A sprained ankle, a partially bleeding neck, and a bunch of scratches and bruises and you couldn't dump her somewhere dry?

So... the lake just seems to not like people lately.]

[Probably an hour later, writing will appear from her, but her hand is still shaky. If anyone remembers when she first arrived, this handwriting is comparable to that.]

I'd just like to inform everyone that I'm back. It's been long enough that I should have missed an experiment... I hope everyone else is well.

Well, as soon as we find Raine I won't have to worry about it at all, now will I? [That is to say, he doesn't trust her on her own, especially out here with the way things have been.]

[...sigh. He just goes silent and keeps walking and carrying her. This is ridiculous, obviously Hermione's just going to keep being annoying.] ...does that mean you actually saw Bellatrix?

[Well of course. It's Hermione. Duh.] I don't believe she was actually there, but it certainly looked and felt real.

Definitely looks real enough to me on this end. It's fascinating, don't you think?

Fascinating how they can make our memories come alive and haunt us? [She sounds and looks revolted at the idea.] No. It's disturbing and horrid. Complete rubbish.

I think it's entirely fascinating. How many other people can you think of that can do the same thing? What better way to test people than to see how far it takes them to break. It's a bit morbid, yes, but it's still a higher level of magic of some kind. It has to be.

It's horrible! I can't believe anyone would even think about doing something like this! How can anyone want magic like this? It's like wanting to use the Unforgivable Curses and understand them!

Horrible is probably the point they're going for, if you think about it. People want power and people want to control other people, that's how the world works. And what's wrong with using the Unforgivables if you don't have any other choice?

They're horrible people! No one with an ounce of self-respect or skill would willingly use something so atrocious! It's as bad as the treatment house-elves get! They're not worth using, no matter what the situation is! Torturing people... it's rubbish! Utter rubbish! Killing them is just as bad, and then forcing them to do what you want them to do? It's horrid!

[You forget she's actually been tortured.]

[Hey Hermione, remember that blank look Draco used to have when you first saw him here? That's back.] So you finally admit it. I'm a horrible person, am I? I'm a horrible person for using certain means to actually do something for someone who's not me. This isn't about the bloody house-elves, Granger, get over it! [Yeah, he's forgotten that, she's forgotten he became rather familiar with some of the Unforgivables last year.

And...he'll put her down, but he's got a grip on her wrist so she doesn't just flounce off.] That's how it's going to be, is it? I knew it.

[....And then it hits her. Oh right... well.. so much for that.]

[And this? A rather flippant shrug. He knew it wasn't going to work. He shouldn't have thought it ever could have, actually, but he got a bit too caught up. He just gives her another look before letting go of her wrist entirely. He's not saying anything, but hey, Hermione has a few options. She can eat her words and actually finish walking the rest of the way, she can use Draco as a human crutch, or she can ask him to finish helping her get to Raine. But for right now, he's not going to say anything at all.]

[Well, since it's Hermione and Hermione has a huge amount of pride... so she won't exactly come out and say she was wrong. Not yet. Because she doesn't think she was wrong. She doesn't want to walk the rest of the way right now because turning her back on him right now feels wrong. The human crutch thing was awkward at best. And asking him to pick her back up would murder what little pride she has left.

[So she just stands there for a minute.]

I stand by what I said before. I don't think you're a bad person.

[It's not a shrug this time, just a slightly bitter smirk.] Right. Okay. Let's just get out of here, all right? [It's back to being strictly business.]

[She nods. Human crutch is go then?]

[Fine with him, just be aware that he's a lot more tense and silent than he was back at the lake. He just waits for her to adjust herself before starting to move them forward again.]
