[It's midday in the woods. Calm, quiet. And then... CRUNCH SPLASH. Guess who just got literally dumped into the lake on this cold winter day? And hard enough to break what little ice is still left. Yep. Hermione's back. And she looks like she's been through hell. Coughing, sputtering. She's going to try to climb up onto the bank, because seriously Malnosso? A sprained ankle, a partially bleeding neck, and a bunch of scratches and bruises and you couldn't dump her somewhere dry?

So... the lake just seems to not like people lately.]

[Probably an hour later, writing will appear from her, but her hand is still shaky. If anyone remembers when she first arrived, this handwriting is comparable to that.]

I'd just like to inform everyone that I'm back. It's been long enough that I should have missed an experiment... I hope everyone else is well.

[And this? A rather flippant shrug. He knew it wasn't going to work. He shouldn't have thought it ever could have, actually, but he got a bit too caught up. He just gives her another look before letting go of her wrist entirely. He's not saying anything, but hey, Hermione has a few options. She can eat her words and actually finish walking the rest of the way, she can use Draco as a human crutch, or she can ask him to finish helping her get to Raine. But for right now, he's not going to say anything at all.]

[Well, since it's Hermione and Hermione has a huge amount of pride... so she won't exactly come out and say she was wrong. Not yet. Because she doesn't think she was wrong. She doesn't want to walk the rest of the way right now because turning her back on him right now feels wrong. The human crutch thing was awkward at best. And asking him to pick her back up would murder what little pride she has left.

[So she just stands there for a minute.]

I stand by what I said before. I don't think you're a bad person.

[It's not a shrug this time, just a slightly bitter smirk.] Right. Okay. Let's just get out of here, all right? [It's back to being strictly business.]

[She nods. Human crutch is go then?]

[Fine with him, just be aware that he's a lot more tense and silent than he was back at the lake. He just waits for her to adjust herself before starting to move them forward again.]

[And for once she'll be quiet, too, moving with him until they get wherever they're going.]

[They eventually get to the edge and he can see Raine approaching them, so he stops and dislodges himself from her. He's just going to make sure she can stand up on her own before backing off slowly.] Be careful on the way home. [And before she can even say anything else, he's already heading back into the forest to go back to the lake.]

[Hermione can a little bit, and she watches him sadly as he leaves, not saying anything, not knowing what to say... and then she sinks to the ground to wait.]
