12th Gryffindor Note (Action first / later written)

((OOC: PLEASE READ. The first action part is for Draco, Raine, and Harry in that order. After she gets home and talks to Harry, housemates are free to reply and then anyone who's heard she's back and wants to come visit her is free to reply. But please wait for those three first. Thanks! Have at now, but keep in mind that she is home so all action posts are at home!))

[It's midday in the woods. Calm, quiet. And then... CRUNCH SPLASH. Guess who just got literally dumped into the lake on this cold winter day? And hard enough to break what little ice is still left. Yep. Hermione's back. And she looks like she's been through hell. Coughing, sputtering. She's going to try to climb up onto the bank, because seriously Malnosso? A sprained ankle, a partially bleeding neck, and a bunch of scratches and bruises and you couldn't dump her somewhere dry?

So... the lake just seems to not like people lately.]

[Probably an hour later, writing will appear from her, but her hand is still shaky. If anyone remembers when she first arrived, this handwriting is comparable to that.]

I'd just like to inform everyone that I'm back. It's been long enough that I should have missed an experiment... I hope everyone else is well.

[She does so and stretches out the ankle that's bothering her. She at least knows what to expect with this magic. Hopefully the green light won't make her flinch too badly.]

[She'll take a few moments to look over the ankle, not wanting to startle Hermione too badly off the bat. Nala's magic might work best for mending that, so she starts with that first.]

[Well, it certainly helps. Hermione cringes a little as the muscles and everything rearranges and sorts itself out. Once the magic seeps in, she rolls her ankle around a little.]

That's... much better. [And at least that one's the worst of it all. She still looks a bit shaken, though, but with one thing healed, she'll be a little better off.]

Good...

[She's quiet for a moment, then looks back up at her.] Are you ready for the next part?

[She gives a little hesitation before nodding once. This whole thing is trying on her but she remembers how it was on the other end when Harry came home all bandaged and hurt. Deep breath, Hermione.] Yes. At least it won't hurt as much as hopping over did.

[It's a small and mostly unsuccessful attempt at a joke, but at least she's trying?]

All right. Just try to relax - take slow breaths.

[She's quiet for a moment, and carefully begins casting. If Hermione remembers how her first attempt at using Raine's magic felt, this one is a stronger, more concentrated version of the spell, which should heal her minor wounds and hopefully help her feel a little more refreshed. At least, enough for the walk.] Healing circle.

[Of course she remembers. She nods and closes her eyes, knowing exactly what it's going to look like and not really willing to risk mistaking the healing light for a Killing Curse right now. The magic feels different now that she's not casting it, but the pain leaves very quickly and all she can feel is a little soreness.. okay a lot of soreness, but it's better than the hot, sharp pain of before.]

...That's much better. [She rotates her ankle again to be sure. It doesn't hurt. Mostly her muscles are just complaining about the strain and stress of the last two weeks combined with the sudden change of the healing.] I should be able to walk now.

All right. ...Just don't push yourself. [Raine hands her the coat that she brought, as well as the blanket.]

[At least she's not dripping anymore thanks to Draco's warming spells, but the coat and blanket are quickly draped around her shoulders with a murmured thanks. And then she manages to push herself slowly to her feet, wincing slightly.]

It's nothing compared to other things I've dealt with... This level of danger is almost comforting. It almost feels like I'm back home.

That doesn't really excuse it, you know. [She rises to her feet as well.] Take your time.

No; it doesn't. [She tests out her ankle by putting a little more weight on it.] At least I went through the exact same thing a few months ago. They just made me relive a memory. It was very convincing.

... Mmm. I don't doubt that it was. [She watches her carefully, to wait to see if she needs support.]

I suppose all of them are... [Well the foot's holding up. That's a plus.] I suppose it's time I tried to make it home, then.

All right, but it's a long way. We'll take a break if you need it.

[She nods.] Walking under my own power is nice. It's better than being carried, helped, or unconscious. [She has her pride, this one and having Draco carry her earlier was a huge hit.]

I can certainly sympathize with that, just as long as you aren't pushing yourself to prove a point.

I'm not.

[At least when she takes this step forward she's not wincing as badly. It's just a bit sore.]

I can walk on this. I'm just not entirely certain which direction to go in.

[She frowns faintly at that, and will be keeping an eye on that, anyway.] I can help you with that, at least.

Good thing one of us knows the way. I hope it wasn't too far out of your way or that I didn't pull you away from anything important.

No, not at all. [She'll start to lead the way once Hermione is ready, but stay at her side, of course.] Besides, what could be more important?

Nothing's more important than helping a friend. [She smiles, so grateful she has Raine here with her.] How have you been since we last spoke? I know I must have missed quite a lot.

You haven't missed too much since the meeting save the experiment, and I'm certain with the way subjects like that tend to carry... you'll be caught up in no time. I've been well enough, myself.

I suppose that's a good enough thing. I'd rather not have missed much. [She sighs at that.] I'm glad you're well. I'm glad I didn't miss a particularly dangerous one. Though missing it would be good for me, I'd still not like to think of what I'd come back to.

People in this village have a tendency to bounce back, even with the more dangerous experiments. It's usually the ones that have more of an emotional tie to them that have more fallout.

[She nods in response, immediately wincing as her head swims a little.]

...Like mine. I almost wish it had been entirely physical. It was easier the first time when I only had to concentrate on ignoring the curse and saving us all. This time... it was the pain and the memory. It's always worse the second time around.
