[Have a really, REALLY shaky handwriting, as though whoever's writing this hurts quite a bit or is exceptionally scared... or hey, why not both. And there's an ink splotch on the top.]

.../looks like a diary. I can't tell.

[Another ink blot, but this one's apparently intentional.]

It's not like what Harry described Riddle's diary as being. I don't suppose it responds to voice commands. My hand hurts too much to write.

[Oh hey, it's swapped to voice here. Have a thumping sound and a soft 'oof.' She's fallen off the bed. And her voice next is really soft, as though she's not aware the thing is recording.]

My handbag. Bellatrix's wand. They're -

Good luck on the hexing h- oh right, she's wandless. What was she thinking going to meet him? But there's no time for this now and if she can find her wand soon, or even Bellatrix's, she'll be happy. Maybe he'll have a few answers for her. So, with a lot of care, and still looking as though she's seen better days - stupid curse of torture! - Hermione makes her way down to the library. She's dressed in Muggle clothes, the ones she's been wearing while they traveled, and her pale green wings twitch slightly as she moves. It's not hard to find Malfoy and she stops a good distance away, sizing him up.]

Do you want to look for whatever it is together inside or will discussing out here work?

[Just pausing to look her over, sizing her up as well. Huh, so she wasn't lying; she really was from a further point in time. He eyes her wings before realizing she's wandless and not much of a threat, so he'll keep his in his pocket for now.

Granted, the topic he wants to discuss isn't necessarily pleasant, even less for her than him though he doesn't realize that. Without even answering her question, he'll just start speaking]

Granger, have you ever heard of a Horcrux?

[Just as she's starting to think this might not be so bad, he has to go and drop an Exploding Curse on her. Several things flit by on her face: Fear, shock, fear, wonderment, and did I mention fear?]

[Breathe, Hermione. How on earth can he know what you're after anyway?]

[Shrugs at that, though he's very, very confused about why she reacted that way] Sometimes there are people here that are working against the "Organization" of scientists. They offer us information. She told me about them, what they are anyway.

[She's looking extremely wary now. Oh god, Draco with Horcruxes is a nightmare waiting to happen for her.]

What did she tell you?

[In the mean time, he's taking extra care to avoid looking at her all together while remembering his discussion with the creator of ANI]

She told me that a Horcrux is any type of an item that holds a piece of a wizard or witch's soul after it's torn apart. It's difficult to create but it's useful for if the body dies, the soul continues living in the object.

[And then, quieter] She also said the Dark Lord has several.

[oh hello INTERNAL DEBATE. There's silence for a good long time as she thinks this over. Dumbledore's trust... but it doesn't really matter in this world, does it? And it's not like he knows the incantation, right?]

Please tell me you aren't going to make one of those.

[He briefly looks startled by the idea because he refuses to believe his soul's even been torn, but his expression quickly fades to his default "are you kidding me, you idiot" stare.] What use would I have for that?

[There's relief on her face at that. Still debating. Thanks for putting her in this position, Draco.]

The same that You-Know-Who has for it? Incidentally, whoever told you about them... she's right.

[Sure, anytime. He hasn't even told her why he's looking into them yet.]

So the only reason someone would have to create one is if their soul was torn. Otherwise it's nothing.

[She's still worried. It's such a touchy subject.]

[Blatantly ignoring the question] And what has to happen for a person's soul to be torn?

[She's hesitant, remembering Slughorn and Tom Riddle.]

[This is a touchy subject, Draco, and she's willing to plead about it.]

[...The heck...? She blinks and then quickly follows him, catching the door before it can close on her. She opts for silence for the moment, wondering if he's going to say anything else.]

[He walks until he reaches a table in the very corner of the library where they can't be overheard, and he still isn't directly looking at her as he leans against it]

[Have another internal debate as she stands close to the table, not taking a seat. C'mon, she's not stupid.]

[Either he doesn't recognize that she's having a debate over this, or she doesn't care] You still haven't answered my question about the soul.

[She turns so that her arms are folded over her chest and her side is to him. She's not turning her back to him but she doesn't really want to look at him right now. Don't mind her; she's just gonna talk to herself a little as she tries to decide what or how to answer.]

Dumbledore told Harry not to tell anyone but me and Ron. I think it was to protect everyone. If You-Know-Who found out what we were after, no one else would be hurt, but with so few who knew, he couldn't possibly have found out.

[After a little bit of lip-chewing, she turns back around.]

I am going to believe that you aren't going to make a Horcrux or tell anyone else how.

[She's ignoring your question for the moment. This is just reeking of the Slughorn and Riddle encounter, or what Harry told her of it anyway.]

[Wow I totally meant he doesn't care, not she. Anyway, he continues staring but it's more from the corner of his eye versus straight on. He just shakes his head because seriously, they just went in a complete circle or something. Hadn't he just said this had nothing to do with whatever she was going through?]

I'm pretty sure I already clarified that, Granger. Start explaining.

[She takes a deep breath.]

In order to split your soul, you have to commit murder.
