26th Gryffindor Note - voice / action

[Hermione is outside, with blankets to sit in and wrap up in, and has her trademark jar of fire in front of her making heat. It's a nice trick and, like everything else she knows, she's glad she learned it. After a few minutes of sitting, she opens up her journal.]

It's not that I don't like the holiday of Valentine's Day. I just don't see why we can't celebrate love every day if we so choose. [Oh, Merlin, Hermione, just stop now. The trolls are gonna come out of the woodwork.] I mean, if you're going to enjoy being around someone, you might as well enjoy it all the time.

[A little later:]

Ron... are you busy? [...Yeah, there's no filter.]

[He knows, but he was mostly curious]

Then is it because you usually don't have anyone to randomly surprise you?

Again you're wrong.

[Yeah, she's... totally sulking now, thanks, draco.]

There has to be a reason, doesn't there? It's a rather bold statement to be making. Maybe that's just my logic.

No, I just think people ought to be nicer to each other over the entire year and not just during one specific day.

That's what Hufflepuffs are for.

Think about it this way, Hermione. Wouldn't the world be a boring place if all people were nicer to each other 365 days a year? Not even peaceful, just boring.

I don't think so. It'd be a nicer place to live in if everyone got on and no one was cruel or mean to each other. We wouldn't have Death Eaters or people being in danger all the time.

[What, she does believe that, even if the day's making her say it.]
hisdarkmark: (I have a proposition)

Maybe so, but maybe there are just some people that are born evil. If they're born that way, it doesn't make a difference if the entire world is sunshine and unicorns. Someone's going to be cruel and someone's going to destroy it.

On the bright side, Luceti seems to be leaning toward the nicer side of things most of the time. You know, if you disregard the draft and the experiments and the psychopaths.

No, but that's when the rest of us band together to fight it back.

It's not so bad on a normal day. [She sounds thoughtful... a little anyway. Funny to think she'd get so used to it.]

How can you just think of this all as simple as black and white still? [He's not too upset, but genuinely curious.]

...you've grown used to it. Comfortable.

Because that's what it has to be for me. [She sighs.] Fight the bad with the good. Befriend anyone who'll listen. If another gray patch happens... we'll take it as it comes. [He's the closest thing to a gray patch she's ever had to deal with regarding this anyway.]

Unfortunately, I think you're right. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not.

Another gray patch...another case like me, then. [Don't think he didn't pick up on that.] What's the likelihood of that happening though? Very small if you ask me.

Of course I'm right. I don't see it as necessarily a bad thing, but I'm not sure it's a good thing either. Perhaps this is another gray patch.
