26th Gryffindor Note - voice / action

[Hermione is outside, with blankets to sit in and wrap up in, and has her trademark jar of fire in front of her making heat. It's a nice trick and, like everything else she knows, she's glad she learned it. After a few minutes of sitting, she opens up her journal.]

It's not that I don't like the holiday of Valentine's Day. I just don't see why we can't celebrate love every day if we so choose. [Oh, Merlin, Hermione, just stop now. The trolls are gonna come out of the woodwork.] I mean, if you're going to enjoy being around someone, you might as well enjoy it all the time.

[A little later:]

Ron... are you busy? [...Yeah, there's no filter.]

[What a coincidence, Hermione. A certain redhead was just about to open the journals and figure out where you are, since you're not in your room.]

Just about to look for you, matter of fact. Where're you hiding?

I do enjoy it all of the time. [Except when he doesn't, but he's too far in love at the moment to think about those times. But really, how dare you! Or something.]

You're right love is for all the time. But I think it's sort of nice there's an extra day set aside.

People celebrate love in different ways, Granger. Sometimes I yell a lot less when I'm feeling particularly affectionate. [Oh Hermione. You sound like a hopeless romantic in Draco's book. At least Draco doesn't sound as serious as usual.]

You were, were you? [She sounds teasingly disbelieving.]

I'm not hiding. I'm outside the house.

Oh of course you do. [Yeah, well... she's feeling teasingly sarcastic right about now... oddly enough.] How was your day yesterday?

I suppose so. I just think it ought to be celebrated all the time and not just set aside for one day or people might start to think it's something for only one day out of the year.

People must already know it's not just for one day.

This is sort of personal, but do you have someone, Hermione?

[Yeah, like you have any room to talk.]

I just think it's silly that some people need a specific holiday for it.

Oi, I was! I'll go prove it!

[And you've got a ginger, lumbering out towards that curly-haired girl in the blankets.]

[Oh good, because she might just have a picnic type thing planned. Also, there's a decent-sized spot next to her, where she's leaning against a tree and writing in her notebook.]

Well, that proves it, all right. Good to see you outside the house.

I would hope they do. My friends ought to anyway.

[pause.]

I hope so, yes. [There's a bit of a blush on her face and it's probably echoed in her voice.]

I think the best thing you can do, is make sure to always make it special for him.

[The joys of experiments!] It was brilliant, I'll have you know.

Brilliant? [There are raised eyebrows here.] Did you do something special for it?

[Picnics? As in food? Because that would make Ron a very happy Weasley indeed.]

The way you talk, you'd think I'm some kinda hermit or something.

[He's just gonna plop down besides her now, surprising himself by nonchalantly putting an arm around her shoulders and kissing her forehead.]

That's what I'd like to do. I know we're from the same time at home, so at least there's that if we ever do make it home. But I want to make it special here, too. I don't think we need a holiday for that.

[He's a little sing-songy at the moment.] Not particularly. I gave him something and we spent the night together.

[All of his favorites, even!]

Maybe you are. [oooooh, a kiss to her forehead! She, surprisingly, does not pull away, but instead smiles and pulls the picnic basket in front of them.] I brought something. I thought we could share it, as much of a nice dinner as Luceti can have.

That's why I said it. I just think the holiday is nice, too, sort of.

[She might be a little bit happy about that.] Definitely sounds like a... brilliant night to me. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Well, I'm glad someone agrees. Sometimes I think everyone else is just happy for the holiday and not what it means.

I couldn't forget the meaning of a day for love.

[Baby, you're the greatest~! A shame he's not really thinking about food, for once in his life, though he's still got to smile at the gesture.]

Sounds nice. Though really, it's hard not to have a nice dinner when I'm having it with you.

[Oh. Wait. That almost sounds smooth. Or does it sound corny? It sounds like something, and he can't tell what, so he absently rubs her shoulder to distract the both of them.]

It was. How about you? Did you do anything?
