12th Gryffindor Note (Action first / later written)

((OOC: PLEASE READ. The first action part is for Draco, Raine, and Harry in that order. After she gets home and talks to Harry, housemates are free to reply and then anyone who's heard she's back and wants to come visit her is free to reply. But please wait for those three first. Thanks!  Have at now, but keep in mind that she is home so all action posts are at home!))

[It's midday in the woods. Calm, quiet. And then... CRUNCH SPLASH. Guess who just got literally dumped into the lake on this cold winter day? And hard enough to break what little ice is still left. Yep. Hermione's back. And she looks like she's been through hell. Coughing, sputtering. She's going to try to climb up onto the bank, because seriously Malnosso? A sprained ankle, a partially bleeding neck, and a bunch of scratches and bruises and you couldn't dump her somewhere dry?

So... the lake just seems to not like people lately.]

[Probably an hour later, writing will appear from her, but her hand is still shaky. If anyone remembers when she first arrived, this handwriting is comparable to that.]

I'd just like to inform everyone that I'm back. It's been long enough that I should have missed an experiment... I hope everyone else is well.

Hermione

Then I can be there shortly. It's no trouble.

If you're sure... I'll be downstairs.

I am...and I'll be over, soon.

[There's a knock on the door a little while later.]

[Action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Hermione closes the journal and once she hears the knock, she walks over to open it.]

Hello, Terra. [She looks worn, but there's a smile on her face as she pulls the door open enough for Terra to come inside.] Would you like anything while you're here?

[Action]

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Terra instantly smiles back, though practically radiates worry. She remembers well how worn she was upon returning, and that seems to be a common thing. At the question, she pauses.]

Maybe some tea? Though I can get it, if you tell me where. I wouldn't want to strain you after you just returned.

[Action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hermione understands that one, too. But she points to the kitchen and shuts the door behind Terra.]

Up in the cabinets in the kitchen. Bottom shelf. I should be able to make the bluebell flames in a jar again to heat the water for you. That's no trouble at all.

[Action]

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, then.

[Terra heads toward the kitchen, retrieving the tea and some cups. She glances back after pouring some water into a kettle.]

You haven't missed too much, school-wise. I can drop off the assignments after school tomorrow and pick them up whenever you wish.

[Action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Hermione looks relieved at that as she sits down.]

I would love that. Harry and Ron would always do that for me at home, but Ron's gone and I don't think Harry would want me to be doing homework while I'm resting now. I've just gotten so bored being cooped up again.

[Action]

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods, sympathetic.]

Oh, I understand. I couldn't do much when I was returned, but...I couldn't just sit there and rest all the time. I hope you won't have to be cooped up for too long. At least it's relatively quiet, now? You won't have to recuperate during experiment madness.

And I can't abide getting behind in classes. [Just ask Harry.]

I'm so glad I missed the experiment. It sounded terrible, though the trade-off wasn't much better. But not having to deal with both was nice.

[Action]

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-03-08 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[She pauses, thoughtful.]

Being manipulated like that was terrible, but...not quite the experiment itself. The fountain wine made for an odd day, though. I don't know if it makes any sense, but having feelings for someone was...nice, even though it wasn't real.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-03-10 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand. [She smiles a little at that. It makes her miss Ron even more.] It is nice to know someone cares for you and you for them. [She looks a little wistful.]

[Action]

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-03-10 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[She seems a bit wistful, too, then curious.]

Is it better to be happy with an illusion of love? Or is the truth more important, even if it costs happiness?

[Action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-03-10 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I always strive for the truth. It's in my nature to doubt and dislike what I can't see or what isn't real.

[Action]

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-03-10 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[Terra nods slowly, mulling it over.]

I think that I would prefer the same. It was nice while it lasted, but...I want to learn what it's like to really have that kind of bond with someone. That can't happen with an experiment that forces us to have those feelings. I didn't even know him.

[She blushes a little, then...oh, yes, tea. That had been neglected, time to fix that.]

[Action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
[She watches as Terra moves around again. And then, because brain-to-mouth filters are non-existent and she's curious, though feel free to not answer:]

Who was it?

[Fortunately, Terra is much the same way when it comes to filters, so it doesn't occur to her to be offended.]

A man named Flik. I don't suppose you met him? He resembles my housemate Locke to an uncanny degree.

[Action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-03-12 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
I don't believe I've ever met him before. I hope everything was okay after the experiment ended, especially if he wasn't someone you knew.

Oddly enough, I think I gained a friend from it. I thought it would be too awkward, but...I guess not?

[Action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-03-12 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[She smiles fondly.] I'm not surprised, honestly. My two best friends, Harry and Ron, only became my best friends after they came to save my life from a troll they'd accidentally locked in the girl's bathroom with me. That was the first time I'd ever lied to a teacher and I did it to keep them out of trouble. The awkward part was that the whole thing started because I'd overheard Ron complaining about me.

Stranger things have happened.

[Action]

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Terra's eyes widen as she hears that story, though more about Hermione of all people lying to a teacher than because of the troll.]

I guess so! Locke was my first friend and that's partly because he saved my life, too. Some soldiers were after me, and he held them back long enough to get me away. He didn't even know me then, but that didn't stop him from helping....

[A little sad for a moment at mention of Locke, but she grows curious again.] ...why was there a troll around? It wandered inside?

[Action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Some people are like that. They don't need a reason to help anyone. Harry's the same way. He has a bit of a "saving people" thing. [She laughs softly at that.]

No... [She turns somber at this memory.] One of our other professors let it in as a distraction so he could try to get something that was hidden deep inside the castle. It didn't work so well for him.

[Action]

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[She smiles a little at the description of Harry, though that fades while listening further.]

...that sounds like it was better for everyone else, though. Anyone who would endanger others like that can't have something good up their sleeves.

[Action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-03-14 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
No... [She sighs a little bit at this.] He was working for Voldemort, the most vile Dark wizard in the world, whom everyone had thought was dead. Quirrel was trying to get something that would bring Voldemort back for good.
