[Over the last few days, Draco has been a very, very busy man. Especially yesterday, seeing how he was busy playing babysitter for three certain children. Hopefully nobody minds, but he might have brought one of them home. It's not like he was just going to leave Ginia to fend for herself, after all.
He had done his best to keep her out of the way though, allowing her to a place to sleep but not expecting her to stay put beyond that. On the morning of the 18th he found she and her dog were already gone, and thus he went outside again on his own mission.
He was determined to find a few missing items, and neither of which belonged to him. After a long day of searching, he was really about to give up on ever finding anything. With a mighty kick to one of the sides of the buildings though, a large pile of snow came tumbling down. He yelped, dodging out of the way before realizing there was something sticking straight out of the snow...
...something that belonged to a certain witch he knew, in fact.
Snatching the wand, he quickly Apparated back to House 26, bursting through the front door and hoping the girl would be home.]
[ she's been reading through her old notebook for the last few days, updating a new one, wondering what else she should say and keep track of. when she hears the door open, she doesn't pay much attention to it until she hears her name. then she sets the books down on the bed and opens the door to her new room. ]
[He's really, really trying to hide that gleeful look but it's pretty dang hard. So instead of answering verbally, he's just going to reach into his coat and pull out her wand.] Found this in the snow today. Think anybody would want it?
[ she takes it with a relieved smile and quickly looks it over for scratches or breaks. it's not that she doesn't trust draco to be careful with it, more that she doesn't trust the malnosso not to have chipped it or something. ]
You didn't win its allegiance.
[ and once she's satisfied with its condition, she quickly waves it at draco and suddenly warmth! and the snow he tracked in is gone 8| ] That feels so much better.
No, that's what I meant. [Don't mind him, he's busy grabbing his own wand and examining it.] ...Granger let me ask you something. How many of us lose our original wands during this war? [He only asks because of something Harry hinted at.]
It's a matter of overpowering the wand's master in some form. [ come on, draco, ask her what else she knows. ]
Hm? [ okay, that makes her frown a touch at him, more because of what she remembers than anything. give her a minute, she's counting. ] Four specifically that I know of, but that's not including all of the people the Muggleborn Registration Commission rounded up and imprisoned. [ that gets a dark scowl from her. ]
...you're joking. Are you joking? That's possibly the most pathetic thing I've heard, what kind of wizard just lets another take a wand from their hand?
It depends on the circumstances and if the wand's master intends for the other person to lay claim on the wand or not. [ her voice lowers just a little bit. ] A lot of things can happen in wars that you'd never think of before. [ hello there, experience.
she sighs wearily. ] You, me, and Harry for starters, and I'm pretty sure Luna would have lost hers, too, when they took her.
It's a power thing. One wizard's strength or speed over another's. Even something as simple as a Disarming Charm might be enough to win a wand's allegiance.
[ yeaaaah, she hadn't really wanted to tell him that. ] Harry took it from you at the Manor after you stopped fighting us. Your delightful aunt got mine when the Snatchers caught us. I actually ended up with hers, so make that number five. And Harry's... [ this is always a part of great guilt for her since she's pretty sure she was responsible for that one. ] I cast a curse in Godric's Hollow. It rebounded and must've hit Harry's wand. When we got out, it was in pieces.
[Such the ultimate lineface. LINE. FACE.] I'm going to kill him. I'm honestly going to kill him. [Though he makes a face at the mention of Bellatrix.] Of course she did. You're a Mudblood to her, she doesn't think you deserve it. As for Potter's...if you broke is, that's why he took mine, isn't it.
[However there's a sudden pause. And a sudden look. It's starting to click in his mind and he's thinking about what Hermione just said.
...Even something as simple as a Disarming Charm might be enough.
Oh don't. You had a bunch of wands. We needed wands. Yours just got mixed in with them. [ sigh. the mention of bellatrix still makes her shudder. it's been so long and yet not long at all. ] Yes. The ones we had weren't working. Ron won their allegiance, but not Harry.
[Still just a face.] Still my wand. [Grumbling. Stupid Potter.] ...makes enough sense.
[He's still just giving her that look though as he connects the dots further.] ...the night at the Astronomy tower. [He knows she knows about that.] I disarmed Dumbledore. That was the first thing I did when I got up there.
Perhaps we give it back in the future. [ she shrugs. who really knows?
those dots, though... she connects them even further. ] You Disarmed Dumbledore? [ but that means... dumbledore's wand... the elder wand... hermione's hands move to her mouth and she sinks down to the bed abruptly. ] You're the master of his wand... Not Snape... and then... [ then the wand goes to harry after he overpowers draco at the manor...
