9th Gryffindor Note [Written on the DA papers / Locked to the DA - ABSOLUTELY UNHACKABLE]

[Hermione's making use of the DA papers. However, the unfortunate thing is that the messages don't actually show up for an hour and a half after this thread. So, it will likely be over with by the time the DA hears. However, feel free to respond in kind. Hermione just... won't answer til the thread's really done.]

Riddle asked me to meet him. Center of the village. Right now. I'll Patronus if I need help.

It's not always a bad thing. [She's also going to try to smile.] It's harder to shake off than I expected. I suspect it really is a lot like shaking the Imperius Curse. I'll have to practice and focus.

...And now you know what Riddle and I talked about.

Yeah, Occlumency's not the easiest thing in the world to learn either. I'm sure Potter can help you learn though, and maybe if you're lucky you still have enough room in your brain to cram information and catch on fast.

...[He just massages his temples with one.] Yeah, now I know. We need to figure out how to stop him from finding his wand, and I have to make sure he doesn't curse my mother.

[Her lips twitch upwards at that compliment, though.] I'm going to need to learn.

[And a glance is spared toward him.] I don't believe he's going to. I know it sounds strange, but I think he'd rather not do anything to her right now. ["She's too good an ally" is implied, but not said.]

Like I said, Potter can help. ["Since I've no clue if you really want to trust me for that."]

I don't either, but I'm also not going to sit by and take chances.

Right. I'll have to ask him.

[She doesn't like any of this. She hates how it feels like Draco's being forced to choose sides... and she's terrified he's going to choose the other one.]

I understand. She's roommates with Harry's mum, so I can watch out for anything, too.

[Ugh, this whole situation is so frustrating and overwhelming.]

Just be careful with it. Occlumency's not fun to learn.

[That's basically how he feels about it too, and honestly it sucks. He's stalling though, with choosing sides anyway.]

...it'll be fine, I think. I don't think he's got interest in Lily, which is helpful. One less thing to worry about.

I can imagine. Harry never stopped complaining when he was learning...

[she hates it. If she could, she'd make sure he never had to choose.]

That does help. I just wish we didn't have to worry at all. [But it's not an unfamiliar sensation considering how she spent her last few months at home.]

It's...frustrating. [And in his case, sometimes it was just flat-out painful.]

[He'll be stuck when he eventually has to choose, but for now he's going to ignore it best he can]

Well if we didn't have to worry at all, we'd probably all be dead. [Morbid? Maybe.]

So it sounded. Harry had to learn from Snape. He would come back steamed every night.

[Maybe they'll find a way to prevent it from having to happen at all.]

...I suppose. [Frown.] Or no one dangerous would be threatening us.

I can only imagine. [A brief pause.] I learned from Bellatrix.

[Maybe, but only after a bunch of other horrible stuff happens, probably.]

One day. Potter's supposed to kill the Dark Lord, right? If we can get that far...

I know... [And she gives you a look that clearly says she commends you for coming out of the experience with all your limbs intact.]

[Sob. She's going to try to help him throughout anyway.]

We're certainly going to try. Harry won't rest until we do. [And you know she won't let him do it alone.]

...how do you know that? [He meets that look for a few moments before awkwardly shifting and ignoring it. It's really not something he likes thinking on. If things get too dangerous though he'll tell her to back out and let him work it out on his own.]

I know he won't; just make sure he doesn't die before the job's done, will you?

...[It's her turn to shift uncomfortably.] Harry overheard a mention of it last year. [In which case, she'll just do what she can from afar. You've acquired a Hermione Granger, Draco. She doesn't let go once she's latched onto a project.]

Of course I will. [And that gets a small smile.] I wouldn't let him die. That'd mean Voldemort would win and I'll never allow that.

...Hermione, it might just be easier to tell me what exactly you do know about last year since you keep letting it slip little by little. [Which is okay, because that means at least she has an idea what he's gone through. And, well, he can't really complain about having her around, considering. She's helped him with a lot lately, but he also doesn't exactly want her dead.]

Exactly, and, well, surprisingly I'd rather not have that either. [There's a bit of a shrug but he relaxes a little at the smile.]

I just keep forgetting we haven't exactly compared notes. It's hard to remember who knows what. [That and she's always kind of afraid you're going to get pissed at Harry for being such a stalker last year. But she does notice the fact that he used her first name. She understands that, but she made up her mind when she told Harry she was going to follow him through the whole hunting Horcruxes thing. She'd rather not be dead, either, but the risk's already been decided on.]

[She's still smiling a bit.] We'll all do our best, then.

I think we might have to do that eventually. Just know I know nothing beyond the night of Dumbledore's death, aside from what you and Potter have told me. And a few things Loony and Theo have mentioned. [Oh no he'll yell at Potter for being a stalker later, but that's not important right now. First name use was intentional. You're in the ranks of being semi-important, congratulations. He actually uses her first name a lot around Potter, too. But, he doesn't understand Gryffindor nature and doesn't realize that suicide missions are common for them.]

Attempt to, at any rate. [Here, have a hesitant smile back. He's still pretty damn worried about Riddle and all.]

Right. [She's going to rub her head and think about what might need to be compared.] Luna. I know quite a bit simply because Harry spent all of last year talking to Dumbledore. [And being obsessed with what the hell you were up to. Just means we'll have to start using your first name. Though that's been a work in progress too. And he'll learn about Gryffindors. He's slowly being introduced anyway.]

We will. We have to. [That smile means a lot to her. She's worried, too, and her reaction to her encounter with him today ought to show just how much. But fear isn't going to stop her.]

Whatever. [But there's a slightly bigger grin. That was really just to get at her.] I think that also depends on how much Dumbledore himself knew throughout the year. I don't know how much he really knew. [Might as well, we're at that level ~~and in one of the deleted cutscenes of HBP you use our first name like three times anyway~~. Gryffindor by proxy, but he's kicking and screaming the whole way there.]

I think for now though we should focus on what's happening here instead. Home can wait, time's not moving there.

[She very nearly rolls her eyes until she notices the grin... and then returns it.] I don't know... I mean, he knew a great deal and he was coaching Harry throughout the year, but I don't know exactly what he knew. [That and Harry was totally spying on you the whole time. ~~fffffffff mun must see~~ He is and it's cute, but he can't deny the Gryffindor spirit forever.]

I was referring to both, actually. [Though you have a point and we're just being obstinate.]

I suppose I could just ask him, but I'd rather not...[He shrugs a little to brush it off. If he finds out just how much Harry was spying, he'll be unhappy. ~~do it, it's kinda cute~~ He can try though!]

Then I suppose we're going in circles.

[She's afraid of that, though, but his last bit gets a small laugh.] Don't we always?

Apparently we're infamous for that. [He just gives her another almost-awkward grin and shrugs] We ought to quit that one day.
