6th Gryffindor Note: [Voice] / [Action]

[Locked to DA Folks]
I need to see you. I have something to discuss with each of you.

[Locked to Harry]
[She sounds a bit nervous here.] Harry, it didn't work. I've tried everything I can think of, but the map's not coming along yet. But, Harry... Sirius' mirror... did it come with you to Luceti? Do you think it might be possible to charm one here? With your Mum out there, I think it might be a good idea to find a way to contact her or for her to contact us easily. I could make another paper for her, one that's charmed with three others, another for you, me, and Ron, just in case she needs to contact you.

[/Locked]
I'm very glad the tutoring sessions seem to be working out for everyone. I hope all of the New Feathers are settling in well. If any of you, New or Old Feathers, need anything at all, information or someone to study with, I'd be happy to do what I can.

[She's out on the porch reading if anyone wants to interrupt]

[action] - this is going to be long XD

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot, actually, and not because I don't trust you! [She picks up the egg basket, journal, book, and small handbag and heads through the house into her room, where she sets the egg basket on her nightstand and then opens her bag. You're welcome to ask about this next bit, Tonks, as you've never seen this thing before. Reaching in, her arm disappears up to her shoulder before she pulls it back out. In her hand is a notebook that's way too big for the tiny little handbag.

[Once she's got this, she settles down on her bed and offers the other side or a chair to Tonks as she rifles through the pages.]

There's a lot that we've found out that we can't let the Malnosso know we know. I don't think it would go very well for us if they found out.

[She's now muttering to herself, turning down the corners of specific pages as she decides what to start on.] Malnosso, Third Party, barriers, Shifting, kidnapping, magic, John, Jacob, and ANI.

Do you have specific questions or things in mind before I start?

[action] - ace!

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, she has plenty of questions, all right, but she's distracted by that handbag.]

Where did you get that?

[She blinks and looks at Hermione.]

Oh, the kidnappings. What do you know about those?

[action] - she basically got told EVERYTHING on her first or second day here XD

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[And that makes Hermione beam smartly as she shows off the handbag.] It was a normal handbag I bought in a Muggle store until I placed an Undetectable Extension Charm on it. Apparently, as I've been carrying it around all the time at home, it was brought here and I'm rather glad of that.

[Her smile fades as she turns back to her notes.] From what I can tell so far, there are two types of kidnappings. Mostly, the term refers to when people like you and me are taken from our homes and brought here to Luceti, but it can also mean the times when the Malnosso take people from Luceti. It appears they experiment on their kidnapped persons in much the same way as the cyclical experiments, but these are much more confined.

[action] - wouldn't want it any other way!

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tonks has to shake her head ruefully.]

Harry's lucky to have you, that's for sure.

Now she frowns a little.]

Is there any way to predict when they'll take someone for these experiments? Or for how long? I heard they sometimes hurt people?

[action] - wouldn't be Hermione otherwise, huh XD

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[That earns a slight blush and a murmur of thanks.]

Not that I can tell so far, but I'm trying to keep an eye on any sort of pattern. It's just hard to monitor with so many people around. The time seems to vary. I believe there's a way to reverse some of the effects, but I haven't been around long enough to have this theory tested. I do know there's a way to reverse some of the effects of dying in this world, and I have reason to believe the two are linked, but I can't explain that without starting at the very beginning with the Malnosso.

[action] - and we'd all be lost without her!

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her frown deepens; she doesn't like the sound of that, even knowing that death isn't permanent here. These Malnosso, hurting her friends? And nothing she can do about it?]

Surely someone's working on trying to fight this? Or get us out of here... What are the Malnosso, then?
Edited 2009-10-19 17:46 (UTC)

[action] - XD she does try to help~! - fff I keep leaving out details sob

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Several of us are, by my count. I am, even if no one else is. It's just very difficult considering we don't even know where we are.

[She reaches up and rubs her forehead briefly.]

We know we're in Luceti, but we don't know where Luceti is. We're kept here by a magical barrier set in place by the Malnosso. From what Raine said, it's as much to keep us in as to keep others out, namely the until recently unknown Third Party. As it sounds like they inhabit an area outside our barrier, I'm led to believe that Luceti itself is a much larger place than it seems to be. No one's sure just how big, though.

[She pauses a moment.]

The Malnosso are the ones who are said to hold control over the kidnappings. From what I can tell, and this part should never be mentioned on the journals, it's the third Party who remain in control of that. I've never actually seen the Malnosso, but they are people... just like we are. Exactly like us. The speculation is that they were once kidnapped as we were, which leads to the question of what exactly does the kidnapping if it isn't the Malnosso. That isn't easily answered, but it's either the Third Party or Luceti itself.

[action] - thank merlin for comment editing~

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
What is this Third Party? And if the Malnosso aren't responsible for bringing us here, why are they doing all these awful experiments on us?

[action] - seeeeriously~

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-10-20 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not entirely sure what they are, but they seem to be opposed to the Malnosso and the Malnosso to them. The Malnosso seem to think we're good test subjects or something of the sort. I'm not certain as I've never actually seen them, but that's what I can gather from my sources.

The barrier around what we can see of Luceti is Malnosso technology, made to keep us in and the Third Party out. Almost two months ago, the barrier was broached, and a battle occurred between our people and the Third Party. I wasn't here for that, so all I have to go on is what I've been told, but as the Third Party is outside the barrier once more, I'm led to believe whoever was here at the time managed to stop them.

[She pauses for a moment to be sure Tonks got all that.]
Now, there are a few people who once were either Malnosso or Third Party members and are now neutral or fighting one side or the other. I have yet to actually meet either of the two who are still alive, so, again, all I have are secondhand reports.

[She has to take a few moments to digest all this, biting her lip and fiddling with her wedding band as she thinks.]

So we've been pulled from our world, and our war, into... a different world, and someone else's war. One side is doing horrific experiments on us at random, and the other side is so bad that side has to enlist our help to keep them at bay.

And we're caught in the middle, with no way to get out.

Lovely.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods sympathetically.] There are several of us who are working to find a way out. I don't think we're trapped forever, simply detained for a time.

[That's as good a segue into another topic as any.]
There are people who have helped us, or so I'm told. John, Jacob, and ANI. They can contact us at their own leisure and make their transmissions invisible to the Malnosso. I believe it's mostly their information that we have been hiding from the Malnosso, but I have yet to confirm that.

John and ANI are the only ones who are capable of contact now, which... brings me to a more unpleasant topic. [And she winces at this, but it's something Tonks should be aware of anyway.]

[action]

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[That doesn't sound good. What could be more unpleasant than what Hermione has already told her?]

What would that be?

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Best to be blunt.]

I don't know how much you've heard about the battle a month or so ago, but it sounds like it started because of Jacob's death. The Third Party got their hands on him - we think he was handed over so John could work against them - and they took him to the desert, where they... [This is so difficult for her to wrap her mind around and she hates what they did.]

It's possible to die permanently here, if you're taken to a certain place in the desert and killed in ritualistic sacrifice. That's why we've got to be careful here. There's no telling what impact that will have on his homeland, but he's... he's not going back.

[action]

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
R - really? He's dead for good, even in his own world? I...

[She has to take a moment, to take that in. Her mind skirts around the people she knows who are here, the people she cares about. It completely avoids thinking of Remus, and briefly flashes to Moody, the most recent death back home before she'd showed up here.]

Wow.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[And now she's back to her brisk normal manner. It's as though she wants to get through the rest so she doesn't have to think about how awful that is.]

From what I've heard, the Third Party's goal, or one of them, is to "save" us through ritualistic sacrifice. The Malnosso's barrier technology prevents them from getting to us, but should it fail or should John be captured in the same way as Jacob, our odds will get considerably shorter.

We just have the Shifting to deal with currently, which is the formal term for the Malnosso experiments. It would seem the Third Party is also capable of Shifting, though their reach is completely outside of the barrier.

To give you a better idea of what the Shifting entails, the definition is "a physical, mathematical, mental, or subcultural alteration." The one I arrived in time to experience moved our subconsciousness into the body of another person at random. [And it was awkward to say the least.]

[action]

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I heard about that. The body swap thing. I don't think I would've been too fussed, though not being able to change might be rather upsetting. [For obvious reasons...]

But I realize I'm probably unique in that regard.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-11-06 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I was just lucky that I knew the person I swapped with. I think it would have been a bit too awkward otherwise.

[She pauses a little and shuffles through some of her notes again.]

That's the only experiment I've been around for and I hear last month involved the battle but it didn't sound as though they had a regular experiment then. Likely, it was because of what happened to Jacob and the disruption the battle caused. But it seems this month has brought everything back to what we can call normal.

[action]

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Tonks frowns, still digesting all of this.]

I s'pose we should just hope things stay "normal" going forward.

You've given me a lot to think about.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
[She really wishes she had better news.]

You should probably take time off to get used to everything I've told you. I only wish I had something more uplifting to tell you about after all that.

[action]

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It's all right. It's not all that much worse than what I left. Anyway, thanks for sharing what you know.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-11-07 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought you ought to know. It's quite similar to the war, isn't it? [Morbid thought, that, but true.] A lot of it should be kept off the journals, though. We don't want the Malnosso knowing we know too much.

[action]

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, of course. I completely understand. D'you... d'you mind if I borrow some of your notes? I know Remus would be interested in looking at them.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course not. [She willingly hands over the notebook.] You can make a copy of them if you want. New information gets added as soon as I come across it and I'll let you know if I find anything else.

[action]

[identity profile] auror-dora.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I'm sure Remus will want to do that, and maybe add notes of his own as we go along.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods.]

You can always ask me other questions if some of it doesn't make sense or you want clarification. Or if other information makes its appearance.
