2nd New Gryffindor Note - voice / action

[ she turns on the feed, running a hand through her hair as she prepares what she wants to say. ]

It has come to my attention that there are quite a few different people here, more so, even, than when I was last here. I’m glad to see so many people can, and are, getting along in spite of it, or perhaps because of it. Really, we ought to be advocating equality, especially in a place like this, where we may only have each other to rely on when things are difficult.

In my homeworld, there are many different people as well, varying from humans to giants and even goblins and house-elves. There’s a stigma against all non- or part-humans, given by a lot of wizards who believe in blood purity. They believe that only wizards with pure blood are of any worth and treat the rest of us like we mean nothing to them. [ yes, she did just say “we.” go ahead. ask her about it. ] During my fourth year at wizarding school, I created a society called S.P.E.W., or the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare, dedicated to promoting house-elves in the interest of freeing them and gaining them better rights in the Wizarding World. [ don’t even try to convince her that wasn’t a good idea. ]

Recently, I have heard a great deal about a group of people here in Luceti who have received as much ill-will as goblins, giants, and house-elves back at home. That is why I have decided to create a group much like S.P.E.W. called S.A.V.E., the Society Advocating Vampiric Education-

[ a shuffle and the sound of a door banging open interrupts her, followed by a male voice. ]

What the bloody hell are you trying to create now? S.P.E.W. didn't even work out! [ people who know the voice will recognize it as draco’s. ]

It worked out fine! [ there’s more shuffling as hermione stands up from the bed and basically kicks draco out of her room. ] Please, I’m trying to help! [ she huffs and sits back down. ]

As I was saying, I believe we can make a difference in the lives of those here in Luceti, both vampire and non. And honestly, we ought to be working together, not blaming one or two groups of people just so we can feel better about ourselves.

If anyone is interested in joining, all I ask is that you uphold the society’s desire for equality and kindness. I made badges- [ she holds one up. they’re pretty decently sized, round red buttons with gold lettering that says “S.A.V.E. for a brighter future for all.”

draco’s voice returns in the background, yelling through the door to be caught on the journal recording anyway. ]
WHY ARE THEY GRYFFINDOR COLORS?! [ which she is... ignoring. ]

If you’d like one, I’ll be by the fountain all day. Please, don’t let prejudices get in the way of true friendship and kindness. Not everyone falls under labels they’re placed under and not all of those under the negative labels really are as bad as they are made out to be.

[ after this, she can be found by the fountain, as she said. draco will likely be with her, so you may encounter them both. ]

But some aren't that close-minded. I just want people to understand. I don't want anyone to go through the prejudice I've seen. [ among other things. like being tortured. ]

Yes, I do, actually. [ for now, she's ignoring the other voice... ]

[ Ignore him, Hermione. He's Mr I Have No Fun Ever. ] Hey, maybe if you were more pro-people pro-vampire, you'd have more friends.

[ Honestly. She rolls her eyes, returning to Hermione. ] Some isn't a whole lot. Anyway, what did you do with this spew - [ She corrects herself. Talking to you is incredibly difficult with all these acronyms. S.P.E.W. - to make people pro ... S.P.E.W.?

[ She's forgotten already about the elves. Poor things. ]

I have friends. [ B| ] I just don't think this is a very good idea as a member of the fanged party in question.

[ welcome to life around hermione granger. it's always complicated. ]

I did a lot of research, made badges, knit hats, did everything I could to free the house-elves since very few other people were willing to do it for me. It's a little more difficult here, as vampires aren't under the same 'rules' that house-elves are, so it's really a matter of changing opinions instead of laws.

[ Sorry, Hermione, but Cordelia's going to just ignore you for a minute. She makes a face - cocked eyebrow - at Angel stating he has friends. She'll believe it when she sees his Facebook page, despite her not knowing of it's existence. ] Why not? This might actually give you a chance to socialise and not brood. If people don't want to stake you, they'll obviously want to talk to you.

[ Think of your reputation, Angel! Cordelia just wants him to have friends. What if she ends up on a mission or something tomorrow? She can't have him brooding in the dark. As insane as the idea is - honestly, she doesn't believe people will be receptive if the idea is forced on them - she can actually see the sense in it. And she likes it.

She'd like one of the worlds they live in to be fang-positive. Vampires aren't that bad, despite her being incredibly bias. He - and his kind - deserve some sort of a chance.

... Cordelia makes a face. Hats? She's never seen Angel wear a hat and - god, she doesn't know if she wants to. He's handsome, but she doesn't think knitted hats will make vampires any more happier than they already are. That's clearly the only thing she got out of this, Hermione.
]

I don't think vampires would be very happy wearing hats.

[ She doesn't see the link between being pro-anything and knitting hats. Was that the thing cool British kids did these days? ]

[ and angel's just giving her a look in return. yes, one of those looks that says he's unhappy with just about everything that's come out of her mouth. the only thing he has to contribute verbally to the conversation at this point is: ]

I'm not wearing a hat. Or a badge. Or anything pertaining to this vampire equality nonsense.

[ the vampire doesn't want to play along, and he's one of the good ones. enjoy that, hermione. angel is a very difficult man. ]

The hats were more to make a point about house-elves. They're enslaved to a wizarding family for their entire lives and must do absolutely everything their master orders them to do, no matter how horrific it is, or else punish themselves severely for it. The only way to set one free is by their master presenting them with proper clothes. [ beat. ] Hats count.

[ Cordelia ignores Angel's looks. He's the biggest undead drama queen she's ever come across - and she knows Buffy!

It isn't a guess to say that Cordelia wasn't taking any of this seriously. How was one going to change the opinions of many? People have had opinions on vampires for years - on the myths and on the actual living creatures that may exist in their worlds - and they haven't changed at all. But when Hermione explains about the elves - something foreign to Cordelia - she can actually see that this girl is serious. And she has to admire her for it. Slavery is one thing Cordelia never, ever wants to support, not after her experience in Pylea.
]

How many elves did you free?

[ ... ] Clothing isn't going to free vampires. Maybe something to stop the brooding and prevent them from wearing dark colours - [ Jab at you, Angel. ] - would help.

[ unseen by hermione, angel makes another face. she struck a chord in him, but not because of him being a vampire. because of his human heritage and the things his people have endured at the hands of those who believed they were above them.

-- and now he's scowling in cordelia's direction, which again goes unseen by the witch. ]
There is nothing wrong with wearing dark colors. I look good in dark colors. You don't want to see what bright colors look like on a complexion that lacks exposure to sunlight, Cor.

A good many, I would assume, since the hats and stockings all disappeared.

[ ... ] I know. [ pointed voice. ] That's why I suggested something else, something that would have a chance at getting people to stop this rubbish.

[ Insert roll of eyes here. She looks pointedly at him. ] Angel, if you could look at your reflection in the mirror and see what I see, you'd know you can pull off any colour.

[ Sometimes, he's the biggest dumbass. And back to Hermione, who is really reeling Cordelia in by the second. If she can save elves, then maybe she's found a way to make Angel some friends. ]

And this something are these badges you were going on about?

[ Then she realises she never really asked: ] Are you a vampire?
