2nd New Gryffindor Note - voice / action

[ she turns on the feed, running a hand through her hair as she prepares what she wants to say. ]

It has come to my attention that there are quite a few different people here, more so, even, than when I was last here. I’m glad to see so many people can, and are, getting along in spite of it, or perhaps because of it. Really, we ought to be advocating equality, especially in a place like this, where we may only have each other to rely on when things are difficult.

In my homeworld, there are many different people as well, varying from humans to giants and even goblins and house-elves. There’s a stigma against all non- or part-humans, given by a lot of wizards who believe in blood purity. They believe that only wizards with pure blood are of any worth and treat the rest of us like we mean nothing to them. [ yes, she did just say “we.” go ahead. ask her about it. ] During my fourth year at wizarding school, I created a society called S.P.E.W., or the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare, dedicated to promoting house-elves in the interest of freeing them and gaining them better rights in the Wizarding World. [ don’t even try to convince her that wasn’t a good idea. ]

Recently, I have heard a great deal about a group of people here in Luceti who have received as much ill-will as goblins, giants, and house-elves back at home. That is why I have decided to create a group much like S.P.E.W. called S.A.V.E., the Society Advocating Vampiric Education-

[ a shuffle and the sound of a door banging open interrupts her, followed by a male voice. ]

What the bloody hell are you trying to create now? S.P.E.W. didn't even work out! [ people who know the voice will recognize it as draco’s. ]

It worked out fine! [ there’s more shuffling as hermione stands up from the bed and basically kicks draco out of her room. ] Please, I’m trying to help! [ she huffs and sits back down. ]

As I was saying, I believe we can make a difference in the lives of those here in Luceti, both vampire and non. And honestly, we ought to be working together, not blaming one or two groups of people just so we can feel better about ourselves.

If anyone is interested in joining, all I ask is that you uphold the society’s desire for equality and kindness. I made badges- [ she holds one up. they’re pretty decently sized, round red buttons with gold lettering that says “S.A.V.E. for a brighter future for all.”

draco’s voice returns in the background, yelling through the door to be caught on the journal recording anyway. ] WHY ARE THEY GRYFFINDOR COLORS?! [ which she is... ignoring. ]

If you’d like one, I’ll be by the fountain all day. Please, don’t let prejudices get in the way of true friendship and kindness. Not everyone falls under labels they’re placed under and not all of those under the negative labels really are as bad as they are made out to be.

[ after this, she can be found by the fountain, as she said. draco will likely be with her, so you may encounter them both. ]

Yes, she might start thinking things that aren't anywhere near being the truth. [ and that wouldn't be such a good thing. her hands go to her hips as he starts in on his talk about the barrel, but then he figures it out and a smirk crosses her face. ] You're welcome for that. And I think being a toymaker is much better than the alternative. [ don't even think about that, draco. ]

We'll come up with something to do with her, then, some chance for us to hopefully get along. It's fortunate for her to have someone so close to her here.

[but are you surprised that he missed it?]

Precisely. That's the last thing I need in this relationship. [Yeah, he's getting a little overexcited thinking about the prospect, don't mind him.] I guess so. It just sounds so...quaint. Unlike a Malfoy, you know?

I suppose...though I reckon her mother already doesn't like me. As far as I know, she isn't even aware I'm shagging her daughter. [Yeah, that was a little bit of an overshare oops sorry. ]

[ not at all, sigh. ]

I'll be sure to set her straight if she ever starts thinking that. [ he's so cute. she almost wants to pinch his cheeks. ] What would you rather be called? Researcher? World-saver? Peace-keeper? [ she may or may not be partially teasing him. ]

Perhaps you ought to try harder- [ ... yeah that was definitely more than she needed to know. ]

...she gets jealous quite easily, you know. Jealous and defensive. I'm not sure if it's a girl thing or a Caroline thing. [HERMIONE. Draco will probably have to bite you if you pinch his cheeks.] The last two sound far too much like Potter for my liking. I'd like to consider it...a researcher and a manufacturer. Though that sounds kind of awful as well. Let's just stick with researcher.

But she's ridiculous! I don't care if she's a sheriff or the queen of England.

I could tell just from the few conversations we had. I just wonder why... [ hence why she's not doing it! ] Researcher has a better ring to it anyway.

That's not the point. If she's Caroline's mum, you ought to at least be civil to her. It would make Caroline's life easier, I'm sure. She has to live with her.

...well, think about how clingy Brown was to Weasley las--sixth year. [Jeeze, has it been that long since then?] She didn't exactly leave room for other females to talk to him. Caroline's thankfully not that clingy, but she is a bit possessive sometimes. [He's determined to make them friends though. Really.] Much more professional. I'm glad we agree on that.

[...but! He's just making a face.] I am being civil. [Shut up Draco, no you're not.] I'm the most civil of civil.

If she does get that clingy, I won't be sticking around to see it. [ sorry, draco. she did that whole mess once and she didn't stick around for ron, either. granted, part of that was because the jealousy was killing her, but details. ] She does seem to need a little more reassurance. I've trying to give it to her, but she's very adamant on the fact that you two are dating and not just friends. It was a bit of a shock at first, but I suppose I've missed enough time. [ everything's just awkward with this whole time she missed thing.

staaaaaaare. right, draco, and she's the muggle prime minister. ]

I won't let her. You now I wouldn't be able to stand it either. [Another pause.] ...her best friend from home is her biggest rival, in a sense. Elena has everything without trying, Caroline feels she has to compensate. [You know you've been in Luceti too long when Draco Malfoy starts talking about feelings and psychology.] We've only been together for a few months, but I've known her since...May? Something like that, it was shortly after you left the first time.

[He looks rather insulted, though he knows she has every right just to stare.] All right, fine. I suppose I could be a bit nicer but honestly, why should I be the one to put so much effort into this?

I'd worry about you if you could. [ like worry that luceti had gotten to his brain. she frowns. ] That makes sense, I suppose. Maybe there's some way we could get her to understand that what she has isn't going away. [ yeah she's... noticing that. ]

Because you care about Caroline. [ ... so simple, really. what is it with you boys she cares about and your emotional ranges? ]

Pansy was a bit clingy, but I usually cut her off before it got too far. [A shrug.] Honestly I think it has to come from you that you're not a threat. Hisoka shook her up far too much, and I still hate him for it, actually.

[...just a face. Okay, true.] I cared about Potter, too, and I still didn't exactly get along with him mum.

[ ugh, pansy. she makes a face. ] I'll try, then. I don't like that she's been through so much. It's not fair to her.

[ uh-huh. ] Just... try, all right? I'm sure she would prefer to not have to worry about you angering her. I'm sure it's a little different since Caroline grew up with her mum... [ well, she could continue that thought, but she just... doesn't right now. ]

I know. [A beat.] I'm sure I'm not making it much easier either considering I don't plan on abandoning Hisoka any time soon.

[He almost looks sad actually when she mentions that, but that look almost immediately disappears.] No promises. I refuse to compromise myself for a girl and her mother.

I know, but... that's something we'll all have to deal with. At least she's not alone about him. [ because hermione really can't stand him, either. ]

That's better than nothing, I suppose. [ sigh. better than outright refusal. ]

...all right, now why don't you like him?

...let me ask you this. Do you think maybe that's where I went wrong with Harry? [Why he's asking her, he's not sure. Maybe because she's the only one he can ask.]

Because he's arrogant and can be quite rude. [ beat. ] But he does have humanity in him, so he's not all bad. [ d'you know how much admitting that took out of her? she will not repeat it. ever. ]

...Not compromising for his mum? I don't know... I don't think so, but, well, Harry's mum's very important to him. [ in other words, it might have had something to do with it, but she doesn't believe that was the only catalyst in the whole thing. ]

...don't you think the same of me though? [Yeah, he's not quite seeing the difference yet.]

More like not compromising in general. Potter wanted me to change a lot of things about myself that I never did.

I did once. I used to think you were absolutely horrible and there was nothing good about you. I know I was wrong now. [ beat, sigh. ] Hisoka does care, but he's got a funny way of showing it.

Like what? [ ... she's trying to help, here. ]

He has his reasons, just like I had my reasons. Hisoka and I understand each other on an entirely different level that I can't quite explain. Just promise me you won't hex him without my permission, all right? I've already got to monitor Caroline just to make sure she doesn't break his face on accident...even if I wouldn't blame her.

He wanted me to trust him completely.
