loyalotter: (really really worried)

1st Gryffindor Note - [Text, then audio post]

[Have a really, REALLY shaky handwriting, as though whoever's writing this hurts quite a bit or is exceptionally scared... or hey, why not both. And there's an ink splotch on the top.]

.../looks like a diary. I can't tell.

[Another ink blot, but this one's apparently intentional.]

It's not like what Harry described Riddle's diary as being. I don't suppose it responds to voice commands. My hand hurts too much to write.

[Oh hey, it's swapped to voice here. Have a thumping sound and a soft 'oof.' She's fallen off the bed. And her voice next is really soft, as though she's not aware the thing is recording.]

My handbag. Bellatrix's wand. They're -

Gone.

Not literally. I just mean--not the government, not the police. Some other sort of power.

So a kind of secret organization meant to help those... with magical powers like what you described?
herotypical: (amused >> occasionally a goof-ball)

Or one to help those without magical powers against those that do and go too far.

That's probably a good thing, though, isn't it? Sometimes you need extra protection, even when you think you're safe.

[Order of the Phoenix anyone?]

Exactly. [She pauses, evaluating the girl before continuing. Oh well, she's already said so much. And then there was the whole deal with hoping to use her in future as a potential researcher. Best to be honest with the girl.]

That's sorta what I do, back home. Kind of.

That's very caring of you. Everyone needs someone to look out for them, even the house-elves and goblins. [Says the creator of S.P.E.W.]

Caring is one word you could use, I guess. [She doesn't seem convinced, though.]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-09-04 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
What would you call it, then?
herotypical: (snark >> wow that was gross)

[action]

[personal profile] herotypical 2009-09-04 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Messy. Dangerous. But that's what you get when you deal mostly with vampires.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-09-04 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose it would be. But if you're doing it to help someone, that makes it worth the risk, doesn't it? [It does for her anyway... and did even when she was being tortured.]

Two parts doing it to help people, one part it's my destiny.

[Reminds her of Harry.] What more reason do you need? If you have to do it, even if it's more destiny over willpower, you still have the will to do it, to stop other innocent lives from being hurt.

Isn't that what it's all about?

[Oh hey, there's some emotion in her voice as she says this and it's kind of obvious by now that she's reaaally passionate about this.]

It's been ten years, and I'm still fighting the good fight. I think that's proof enough that I don't need any more of a reason. [But she smiles; clearly, she approves of Hermione's sparkiness.]

[And that earns a smile.] Back home, my two best friends and I were trying to defeat the master of the Dark Arts, the most evil wizard ever to exist. We were... captured by his followers and I was tortured for information. Even with that, even knowing we could die ourselves, it's still worth it to try to save even one more life.
herotypical: (snark - you did what now?)

[personal profile] herotypical 2009-09-04 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's awfully hardcore of you. [Definitely impressed.]

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-09-04 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[If only Buffy knew exactly what magical torture entails.]

I didn't have a choice. But that's what I have to do when I return home. I have to help finish our mission.
herotypical: (snark - cute - oh really?)

[action]

[personal profile] herotypical 2009-09-04 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
That reminds me how I don't really have a mission to go back home to--the last one had that last-big-fight feel too it.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-09-04 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
That's good, though, isn't it? When you do return home, you can make sure no one else is threatened.
herotypical: (snark >> vague that up for me)

[action]

[personal profile] herotypical 2009-09-04 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the plan. [She smiles, quietly.]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-09-04 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hermione returns the smile.] Sounds like you've got an important job as well. I'm sure it'll turn out all right.

That seems to be a trend, around here. Important jobs. Everyone here seems to be important in some way, back where they're from. Champions and heroes and starship captains.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-09-04 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds like we all have a reason to find our way back home. And if we're important at home, then we should all be able to stop these Malnosso and ensure our return.

...In a way, our mission here has become what our missions at home were.

I don't know, but I intend to find out.
