24th Gryffindor Note [action/written]

[Hermione's outside today. Mostly. Kinda sitting out on the porch nervously holding onto her Notebook. Those who have seen her lately might have noticed that in the last few weeks, she's been noticeably happier, and today's no different. She might just also have a case of the nerves for some reason.

Eventually, she pulls out her journal.]

Is anyone celebrating New Years'? Is January when the official year changes here? [What... she hadn't really kept track last year for some stupid reason.]

I suppose it's still reason to celebrate. We're all in this together, after all.

[After a few hours, she's going to seek Harry out. Wherever he is, she's coming!]

I had somehow missed the date. [there's a sound of a scratching pen as she takes note of this.]

Another year older, I suppose. Another year with friends. That's why I'd celebrate it.

Another year older would be your birthday though, wouldn't it? ... Not that it's particularly easy to keep track of that here.

That depends on when you got here and how far away from your birthday you were then. It's complicated. I suppose it's all a matter of how much you want to keep track of.

Fair enough. A question of how much it matters, especially when you consider how everyone is from a different time and place anyway.

I suppose it doesn't in the long run. [She sounds oddly amused by this.] It's just one more thing to think about. Not that we don't already have a lot to think about.

The date's enough for me, really. Anything is bound to be an estimation one way or the other.

You're probably right. I guess all we can really do is keep track of the number of days and judge our age and how long everything's been by that.
