21st Gryffindor Note [Voice / Action for housemates]

[It's early afternoon at this point when Hermione sits down at the dining room table and opens her journal. It's started recording as soon as she tells it to, but the sound of something near the door distracts her.]

...Who left the door open?

[There's a little shuffling as she goes to shut the door and then sits back down in her chair. A little more as she takes a breath to speak and then

there's a sound that's very much a cat's meow. That's definitely not Hermione's voice. She looks down at the floor]

CROOKSHANKS?!

[Cue one delighted Hermione practically squealing as her lap is now the territory of a very familiar cat. The recording keeps going for a few minutes before she finally remembers to shut the journal. Housemates are welcome to come in to see what she yelled about. Seriously? Best birthday ever.]

(ooc: I'll have a permissions thing up for Crookshanks, since he's highly intelligent. Not a requirement to fill it out, but helpful for me.)
hisdarkmark: (I don't know how to talk about this)

I'll believe it when I see him.

That may have been something of a joke. You're at the house then? I suppose I could stop by.

In the dining room, yes, but I can move up to my room shortly. [Make it a little easier on you, Draco.]
hisdarkmark: (I'm officially screwed)

[Thank you Merlin.] I'll Apparate in, in that case.

All right.

[She makes her way up to her room and by the time Draco arrives, she's sitting on her bed with an armload of cat. And the door's firmly shut.]
hisdarkmark: (I'm officially screwed)

[He tries to pop in without being loud, but let's face it, the act's always a bit noisy. However, he arrives soon enough and blinks around the room, eyes settling on girl and cat.] Granger.

[Yeah, nice try. She just smiles at him, stroking her cat.]

Malfoy, meet Crookshanks. Crookshanks, Malfoy.

[The cat merely blinks at him.]

[Just. Staring.]

...any particular reason his face is like that? [It's not even meant as an insult, he's genuinely just curious]

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Part of the Kneazle genetics.

[She's watching them both closely.]
hisdarkmark: (I'm pretty sure this is a felix effect)

[action]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-10-07 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
[He's having a staring contest with a cat. What has the world come to?] They're all flat?

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-10-07 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[A sad lack of entertainment, that's what.] It's part of their evolution. [And Hermione will just launch into a small - for her - lecture about Kneazles. Draco just kind of gets a small history of everything Kneazle that he probably never wanted to know. Feel free to interrupt her.]
hisdarkmark: (I have a few awkward moments)

[action]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-10-07 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
...[He eventually stops the staring contest, if only because Hermione's busy blahblahblahing again.] All right, all right. Just stop that already!

You asked. [But she's not sounding particularly upset. She lets Crookshanks out of her arms, but he doesn't do much aside from twitch his tail and sit.] They're extremely intelligent, as well, and they're a good judge of untrustworthy people. The fact that he's not hissing at you is a good sign, I think.
hisdarkmark: (I could get used to muggle clothes)

[action]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-10-07 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Either that, or his sensory is defected. [He's going to lean a bit closer, just narrowing his eyes at squashy-face Crookshanks.] So that means he'll live for a good while, then. I just want to know how they've been brought here.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-10-09 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
He's not defective. He knew who Sirius was before we did. And Pettigrew, too.

[Crookshanks just watches him.] I don't know. I wish I did and I really hope they won't be affected by experiments when we are.]
hisdarkmark: (I look down on people a lot)

[action]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-10-11 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
How do you know that wasn't just coincidence? Cats do strange things...I think. [...wait wtf why am I staring at a cat. Moving to look elsewhere...] ...I doubt that they will. [He moves to hover a hand over Crookshanks' back.] He's missing the wings and bar code. I doubt they can operate on animals without those factors.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-10-15 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Because Kneazles are very good at recognising untrustworthy people.

[She watches him.] Yes, I'm hoping that's the case. It seems to be, though it makes me wonder why.
hisdarkmark: (I never thought of it like that)

[action]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-10-15 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
All right, all right. I get it. I'll believe that when I see it.

[Shruuug.] Why not? It actually almost makes sense if you think about it. They're simply too lazy.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[She just gives him a look.]

I suppose you're right. Besides, animals who can't talk wouldn't be very good test subjects, would they?
hisdarkmark: (I think this backfired)

[action]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-10-19 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably not, but then that makes you wonder why there aren't more tests done on the animals that actually are here and that actually talk. Their logic fails to make sense.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-10-23 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. I suppose we'd have to ask them. Perhaps it has something to do with our special abilities and experiences. The animals here wouldn't have as many triggers as we do.
hisdarkmark: (I'm not happy with this turn of events)

[action]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-10-23 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Considering the fact that they're animals, I wouldn't doubt that. If you'd like to ask them be my guest, but I'd rather not speak to them just for that. I'll wait until I have a good question.

[action]

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-10-23 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I think I'd rather not give them the idea. Who knows what they might do otherwise. [Crookshanks is her baby sob. If anything happened to him... :( ]
hisdarkmark: (I call this a puppydog face)

[action]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-10-23 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably for the best. Who knows, maybe they'd surprise us and not react at all.
