[It's a couple of minutes before she actually says anything, but there are a few doodles on the page. When she does speak, she's very subdued.]

I guess this is the next experiment. It seems to be... a strange one anyway. I wonder who has my body?

...This is Hermione, for those who don't recognise my voice or my face. I don't look like I normally do.

[So the basic turn of events for Hermione: She wakes up rather groggy, eyes not quite as red or scratchy as she thought they'd be. Hello, something's off. She doesn't really notice her body change just yet as she makes her way out of the random room she was in. And a little later notices the body of her best friend... whom she had just fought with not a few days ago and who has been resolutely refusing to speak with her. Can't deal with seeing him yet. Hermione flees the house.

Currently, she (in the body of Raine Sage) is sitting by the lake, with her knees curled up to her chin. Those who know her, even if they've only spoken to her for a minute or less, can EASILY tell that something is very, VERY wrong here. Feel free to talk to her.]

It sounds like a plan, then. [Following Hermione outside. Still a little odd to be following herself, but it hasn't been too difficult to get used to. She nods at the instruction, and follows as directed, with the wand aimed at the ants-]

Impedimenta!

[Practical spells really are so much better.]

[She smiles as the ants start struggling a bit and stop completely.]

Oh and if you ever want to reverse your spell effects, most of them can be undone by Finite Incantatem.

[She thinks for a moment before offering up another spell.]

The Stunning Spell ought to be next. STOO-puh-fye! It will Stun the target and render them unconscious.

[Hold on, casting Finite Incantatem on those buggers to test it out.]

It seems that the possibilities for spells in your world go a long way. If you find any texts pertaining to your world, I'd certainly be interested in reading them.

Lets see... [Focused back on the ants again] Stupefy!

And they can be disastrous to get wrong. If I find any of the books I used to carry around, I'd be happy to show you. I brought most of my schoolbooks with me while we traveled.

[Have a proud smile.] You're really getting the hang of it. Those are likely your most important ones. If you can think of some other form of spell you'd like to try out, I'm sure there's a corresponding one with my magic we could work on.

[She misses her wand, man. Loads.]

I'd be glad to see them.

I'm not certain if I can think of any more right now. This whole idea of having magic being able to do - well, just about anything, really - is still new to me. I'm certain I'll come up with a list of things before this experiment runs out.

Compared to that, my magic really isn't all that exciting.

As long as you have the correct incantation and wand movement, literally anything is possible. [We're just not... going to go into the Unforgivable Curses unless you really want to know. Or that whole memory thing... especially given what she had to do to her parents.]

Well, what is your magic like? Maybe I can try it out?

[She'll find out about those in due time, to be sure.]

I specialize in healing artes, though I also use what is known as light magic - rather, spells based upon the light elemental, when the need arises to fight or defend myself. I suppose the concentration required is similar to what you're used to.

[Oh very likely. Which reminds me Hermione might want to talk to Raine again soon, to warn her about Riddle and tell her about Dumbledore...]

Oh so your magic is elemental in nature? That is quite different from my magic, but I'd love to try it.

[Awesome. ... When Raine is no longer kidnapped :|b sigh hiatus.]

Something like that, yes. My brother certainly has more of an array of spells when it comes to the other elements. It's not quite as practical as what can be learned from the spirits here, unfortunately, and certainly not nearly enough as what you've showed me.

[She glances around, looking for a suitable target.]

[she'll totally pounce when Raine gets back 8Db]

That's all right. It's nice to have something at all, I think, especially if you're used to it. Perhaps I can try the healing spells first before I attempt anything else? [Just in case something goes weird, she means. Not that she expects it to, but y'know. Safety and all that.]

Perhaps that might be best. Healing... well, it's somewhat different from ordinary magic, in any case. Unfortunately the leading researcher on it died before most of his theories could be proved. [She sounds almost a little annoyed, at not having enough background on one of her main resources.] In any case... if you concentrate, you should be able to feel two flows of power within you. The stronger, more chaotic one is more tied to the elemental magic. And separate from that, there should be another, gentler flow. Focus on that one for now.

[she understands that completely. Listening carefully, it's a while before she answers and tries it herself.]

All right. [She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes, feeling through for the threads of magic- Oh! Well, that was easy enough. Aaaand, the gentle one...] It feels green. Oh, that's odd. [Thaaaat will take getting used to. She opens her eyes and frowns a little, then pulls on the gentle, green flow, and attempts to cast.]

It's very different from my magic. I think I did it. [The green encompasses her, making her flinch slightly, as though she's expecting it to hurt.]

Yes, it is a bit different, the healing aspect especially. Your casting seemed normal to me... but are you all right? You seemed startled.

[She seems to shake herself a little and offers a weary sort of smile, glad for the compliment no matter what.]

Yes, I'm fine. It's just that green is the colour of... the Killing Curse, so it feels a little strange for me to think of green in any kind of healing terms.

I see... no wonder you seemed so bothered. Associations can run very deep, after all.

The color can vary depending on the spell you're trying to cast; it's not really a determining factor. First aid is one of the primary spells, normally one to refresh your physical condition. Of course... casting too much does take it's toll on the caster after a while.

[She nods.] Especially after you've seen people die from that green light. [And nearly been killed by it yourself.]

Our magic is much the same with colour, though I've never known magic to be very wearing aside from the Patronus Charm or others that required intense mental focus.

I see... I'm sorry, I probably should have prepared you better.

Well, it's only wearing if you use too much at once. Which can occur during skirmishes, depending on how long it takes or how much the user can actually handle. The more powerful the spell used, the more draining the result will be.

You had no way of knowing.

[She listens carefully and nods.] That makes sense. I guess my magic doesn't really have limits like that. It sounds like yours might draw upon your own strength, whereas mine seems to draw upon a separate reservoir that's not connected to physical strength.

Something like that, yes. Mana is the very source of life itself; using too much of it in general is a drain if not monitored properly, whether it is used by spell casting or other means.

I'll keep that in mind, then. [She smiles, then.] This is all very fascinating. I've never really had a chance to get used to any of the other magic types available here, but to have a hands-on chance is amazing. [She sounds quite enthusiastic and looks it, too. This was definitely a good distraction.]

I suppose it is a bit of a unique learning experience. Perhaps we should compare notes on it, when it's over.

That would be very, very fun. [She sounds thrilled now.]

We should go back inside, though. [Where they could talk about who knew what else now that Hermione was feeling better.]

[Raine seems rather pleased at the thought herself. It's probably been a while since either of them smiled this much at once, really. Nerds ...]

Yes, that's a very good idea.

[Hermione will lead the way back inside, then. And she is very happy she's found someone to be a nerd with like this. Harry and Ron have never really been into it like this.]

[It is certainly quite refreshing to be nerdy and to have someone who appreciates it rather than be baffled or bored. They can probably reheat the tea and just talk for a while.]
